OS updates are not automatically certified but are supported where the OS vendor guarantees backwards compatibility with the base line OS level. Certification of OS updates may be performed if the backwards guarantee compatibility of the OS Service Pack / Maintenance Pack is questionable.
In other words, Progress does not certify Windows Service Packs unless they introduce a major change to the O/S which affects our products (e.g. SP2 for Windows XP added the Windows Firewall) or if we find that it causes major issues with the running of our products with that SP.
Since Windows XP SP3 adds no major changes to XP functionality, there is no reason to certify it. Windows XP SP2 is the minimum supported version for all Products Certified for Windows XP. Windows XP SP3 can therefore be considered a supported configuration. |
