InstallShield creates an archive of its installers under the Window's Program Files directory, in a folder labeled
"InstallShield Installation Information".
c:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information
The folder contains information about the particular product that has been installed. The folder name or GUID is written to the registry under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache\{GUID-value}
Option 1: Rename the Install Shield Directories Rename the entire Windows
"InstallShield Installation Information". This will force InstallShield to create a new one the next time it is run.
OPTION 2: Delete the Add Remove Programs Cache from the registry
** Add Remove Programs Cache is no longer used in Windows versions since at least Windows 2000 **
1. Run regedit
2. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache
3. Delete the GUIDs or folder that match the ones listed in the
"InstallShield Installation Information" folder under the Program Files
For example the
"InstallShield Installation Information" folder shows the following GUID for the current Progress installation:
{1E48D50B-D507-11D3-B4BF-00104B311D5E}
Delete the GUID:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache\{1E48D50B-D507-11D3-B4BF-00104B311D5E}
