There is no plan at this time to stop supporting RECID.

Progress supports RECID for backwards compatibility, but recommend that developers move to the use of ROWID as the preferred mechanism.

RECID does have limitations (Table Partition does not support this for example), and it is possible that Progress will elect to discontinue support of RECID at some point in the future.
