Question/Problem Description

Database crashed with errors 4229 10560 on the .db file
Error 10560 is a read on area 1, block number: 1, extent: <path>\<dbname>.db
In the same directory as the Control Area a set of files with a .zepto extension have been created
Rebuilding the Control Area with PROSTRCT BUILDDB created the new .db file with errors 44 and 6070

Cause

Other than .db file, other database extents and Progress executables may also be effected by the zepto virus.

Resolution

Wipe the entire server machine to make sure zepto virus is removed from the server, then reinstall everything and finally restore the database.
