Question/Problem Description

In OpenEdge 11.6.1, an environment variable SSL_SOCKET_READ must be set to TRUE in order to enable the fix for defect PSC00339091. This implementation is not usable in all cases. When HTTP client functionality is added to an existing application, it may not be possible to change the way the existing application is started in order to set a new environment variable.

Cause

SSL_SOCKET_READ was implemented as an environment variable with a default value of FALSE in order to avoid the risk of regression in applications which do not use the HTTP client.

Resolution

Upgrade to OpenEdge 11.6.2. As part of the fix for related defect PSC00346086, SSL_SOCKET_READ is enabled by default in this service pack. Setting it specifically in code is no longer required.
