A keepalive message in Internet communications is a message sent among nodes when no data traffic has been detected for a given period of time and thus keeps the link alive. In order to see the current setting use the command:

inconfig tcp_keepidle

By default the keep alive interval is 2 hours (7200 seconds). If you wish to change the parameter, use the command:
inconfig tcp_keepidle <number of seconds>
