Officially Infragistics Controls installed with OpenEdge are supported for use in the version that they are installed with. Although there is nothing in the OpenEdge AVM that is tied to a specific version of the controls that are shipped with it. So technically any version of the Infragistics controls should work with any version of OpenEdge, even if that version of the controls is not shipped with that release of OpenEdge. The implementation of the AVM is generic in the sense that it is designed to work with any control.
Controls supplied directly from Infragistics:
If a customer wants to use OpenEdge with a version of the Infragistics controls different from the version shipped with OpenEdge, they are free to obtain these controls directly from Infragistics. If the customer does this then they should log any problems with the controls directly with Infragistics. From a Progress Technical Support point of view, we expect that the controls will work with OpenEdge, but the version of the controls will not have been formally tested with the release of OpenEdge being used. In this case with regard to the OpenEdge client, Progress Technical Support will provide support on a best-effort basis, and it may be necessary to verify that the control does not exhibit the same problem in Microsoft Visual Studio. If problems are found in the OpenEdge client then Progress Development will investigate and if necessary provide fixes for any issues found.
Controls used in OpenEdge that are installed with another release of OpenEdge:
If a customer wants to use OpenEdge with a version of the Infragistics controls that are shipped with another release of OpenEdge (for example using the controls shipped with 10.2B in an OpenEdge 11.4 Development environment), then support for this configuration is similar to that described above. From a Progress Technical Support point of view, we expect that the controls will work, but the version of the controls will not have been formally tested with the release of OpenEdge being used. In this case with regard to the OpenEdge client, Progress Technical Support will provide support on a best-effort basis. If problems are found in the OpenEdge client then Progress Development will investigate and if necessary provide fixes for any issues found. However, in this scenario if a problem is found in the Infragistics control (not the OpenEdge AVM), then it's likely that Infragistics will not resolve the problem. Infragistics do not support older versions of their controls in the way that Progress supports older releases of OpenEdge.
