The -REPLTargetCreation parameter creates a PROBKUP of a source database with replication enabled in order to be used as a new target database baseline.
Similarily, the -REPLTargetCreation flag is used on PROQUIET when used to take an online OS copy of the source database for a target baseline.
This parameter does not need to be used if resulting backup is not intended to be used to create a replication target database.
- For non-replication enabled databases:
- It is not necessary to use the -REPLTargetCreation flag with PROBKUP or PROQUIET, although it causes no harm in doing so.
- For replication enabled databases:
- Always use the -REPLTargetCreation flag with PROBKUP or PROQUIET when a target baseline is being created. Afterwhich, no further RFUTIL mark backedup, PROQUIET or PROBKUP must be issued (even with -REPLTargetCreation flag) until the replication target database has been restored with this backup, started and completed synchronization or it will fail initial synchronization and the target baseline will need to be re-taken.
- It is not necessary to use the -REPLTargetCreation flag with PROBKUP or PROQUIET if the intention is not to create a new target baseline, although it causes no harm in doing so, unless a prior PROBKUP or PROQUIET has been issued with to establish a new target baseline and that target baseline has not completed synchronization.
