We support OpenEdge on the certified OS.

For example:
  • Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 is certified since OpenEdge 10.1C, 11.0, or later and is no longer supported since OpenEdge 12
  • Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2 is certified since OpenEdge 10.2B08, 11.3.2 and later (first certification)
Microsoft Hyper-V Server provides an abstraction layer that decouples the physical hardware from the ‘guest’ operating system. It is the operating system that schedules processes and threads and OpenEdge has no influence or interference with that.

OpenEdge Development is of the opinion that applications running in a Hyper-V environment are likely to experience performance issues due to the way the Hyper-V’s Dynamic Memory technology shares resources, unless they are tuned.

Customers are urged to carry out sufficient performance testing to confirm the OpenEdge Application Software environments is not adversely affected. Consider engaging the vendor and consult the Operating System's Documentation to best tune configurations and administer Hyper-V.
