Error MessageUsing the vf switch will result in the error:

Access to database <name> not allowed. The database is enabled for site replication but either replication is not running or this process is not authorised to open a replication enabled database (10356)

Resolution
It is possible to run prorest with the -vp switch on a backup for a replicated database. Using the -vf switch is not possible and will result in an error.
 
The vp option specifies that the restore utility reads the backup volumes and computes and compares the backup block cyclic redundancy checks (CRCs) with those in the block headers.
