Horizontal Table Partitioning

Horizontal Table Partitioning, where Partitioning refers to structuring data storage depending on the contents of the data, was introduced in OpenEdge 11.4, released in August 2014.

In OpenEdge Release 11.4, the OpenEdge RDBMS is enhanced with Horizontal Table Partitioning. Horizontal Table Partitioning allows Database Administrators to design a physical database layout that aligns Storage with specific data values or ranges. The physical separation of data into partitions can improve performance, maintenance, and data availability.  Later releases continue to build on the Table Partitioning support for OpenEdge Databases.
